One time, someone asked Shri Maharaj Ji, "Maharaj Ji, why is it that some people start on this path but are unable to sustain themselves on it?" His Holiness replied, "Those people do not bind themselves with rules and principles. They do not live disciplined lives. They do not walk this path while keeping their mind stable and peaceful. That is why they fall sooner or later".
In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna remarked, "Thousands of people will attain Brahm Gyan or Divine Wisdom, but only some of them will truly understand it. Many will walk this path, but very few will make it to the end. The reason is that the human being has not attributed enough significance to this path as was required". So, let us not commit the same mistake. A wise person is not one who learns from his own mistake. Instead, the wise one is one who learns from the mistakes of others. Let us become such disciples that please our Guru.
When the eternal science of Brahm Gyan was imparted to us, we were told to practice tireless and ceaseless sumiran (i.e., to dwell upon the name of God, which is awakened in our being by the immense blessing of our Guru). But if a disciple observes that his life has not witnessed any spiritual advancement despite obtaining Brahm Gyan, he must attempt a deep and sincere contemplation of the cause of this lack of development. When he does that, he realizes that even though he meditated and destroyed the past karmic load, he created a new load from his interactions in his environment which was devoid of sumiran. Due to this, his spiritual advancement became replete with obstacles.
It is therefore said that sumiran must be practiced endlessly. And if we were unable to do this in the past, then we must express our deepest apologies to our Gurudev. Why don't we start now? We did not in the past, but why not now? Let us pray to Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji to bless us with such resolve and energy that we invest our every moment in the pursuit of sumiran. If we have stepped onto this path and begun our battle with the mind, then we must transform ourselves into victorious warriors. Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji said, "Do not stop out of the fear of falling and getting hurt. I want to make you unparalleled warriors!" That is only possible with the practice of constant sumiran. All those obstacles in our course and all the weight of our past karma will not be able to stop us. We will proceed forward.
These were the thoughts driven by the divine grace of Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji.
